Synopsis
Sreedharante Onnam Thirumurivu (Sreedharan’s First Scar) is a 1987 Malayalam comedy-drama film directed by Sathyan Anthikad and written by Sreenivasan, starring Mammootty in the titular role. The story revolves around Sreedharan, a principled yet simple single man in his late twenties, who meticulously runs a car repair shop. He harbors a desire to marry a college graduate, a qualification he himself lacks. His life takes an unexpected turn when his uncle entrusts his daughter, Ashwathi (Neena Kurup), to Sreedharan’s care so she can complete her final year of studies near his home. The uncle also subtly expresses his hope for a union between Sreedharan and Ashwathi. Initially, Sreedharan is delighted by this prospect, but he soon encounters a rude and seemingly arrogant Ashwathi, whose dismissive demeanor challenges his attempts to win her affection and make her feel at home.
As Sreedharan strives to understand Ashwathi, he uncovers her painful past: a deep-seated feeling of rejection from her family after being sent to boarding school, compounded by the heartbreak of her lover, Vinayachandran (Suresh Gopi), having seemingly abandoned her. Displaying immense compassion, Sreedharan embarks on a mission to reunite Ashwathi with Vinayachandran. He discovers that Vinayachandran had not abandoned her but had left due to losing his legs in an accident. Sreedharan selflessly facilitates their reconciliation and marriage. With Ashwathi happily reunited with her true love, Sreedharan is left to continue his earnest search for his own life partner. The film, also featuring Sreenivasan and Mamukkoya, received positive remarks, with one user review praising it as a “nice movie with excellent story by sreenivasan and marvellous acting by mammootty.”
