“Sooryaputhran” is a 1998 Malayalam-language action-comedy drama, directed by Thulasidas, featuring Jayaram and Divyaa Unni in the lead roles. The film tells the story of Jeevan, an orphan and self-made estate owner living in Ooty, who yearns for a family of his own and decides to adopt a child. His close friend Shatrughnan complicates matters by falsely claiming Jeevan is married when the orphanage’s Father insists on giving a child only to a complete family. When the priest demands proof, Jeevan enlists the help of Hema, a mysterious woman, to pose as his wife—leading to unexpected twists about her past and their evolving relationship.

The ensemble cast includes Jagadish as Shatrughnan, Innocent as Paulose, Jayabharathi as Hema’s mother, and notable Malayalam film personalities such as Narendra Prasad, Murali, Kalpana, KPAC Lalitha, Devan, Cochin Haneefa, and Jagathy Sreekumar. The screenplay was crafted by A.K. Sajan and A.K. Santhosh, with music composed by Ouseppachan, and the film produced under Ganga Productions.
