Synopsis
In a quaint village setting, four young friends navigate the complexities of modern friendship through the lens of social media. Sidhu, an ambitious vlogger with a popular YouTube channel, documents the everyday moments of his tight-knit group—Paari, Sony, and Kannan—sharing their pranks, shopping adventures, and casual hangouts with an online audience. What appears on the surface as innocent fun and camaraderie masks deeper currents of prejudice and social hierarchy that have been woven into the fabric of their interactions.
As the friends plan an elaborate Independence Day prank for Kannan, the film subtly peels back layers of normalized discrimination that pervade their seemingly modern, progressive lives. Through casual conversations and throwaway remarks in vlogs, deeply ingrained casteism reveals itself—from the dehumanizing nickname “Adima” (slave) that Kannan is called to the dismissive attitudes toward his scholarship money and his position as an outsider within the group. The film exposes how prejudice doesn’t always announce itself loudly; instead, it hides in plain sight within the comfortable banter of friends who refuse to acknowledge the harm they inflict.
Shot entirely in the intimate, unscripted style of vlogs, this innovative indie drama transforms the casual medium of social media into a powerful tool for social commentary. Without preaching or heavy-handed moralizing, the film demonstrates how societal inequalities persist through normalized behaviors and unexamined attitudes, challenging viewers to recognize the prejudices that lurk beneath the surface of everyday friendships and modern digital culture.[1][2][3]
