നന്ദനം (2002): ഭക്തിയും പ്രണയവും പൂക്കുന്ന കൃഷ്ണഗാഥ

ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പന്റെ ചൈതന്യം നിറഞ്ഞുനിൽക്കുന്ന പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ രഞ്ജിത്ത് രചനയും സംവിധാനവും നിർവ്വഹിച്ച മനോഹരമായ ചിത്രമാണ് “നന്ദനം”. അമ്പാട്ടുപറമ്പിലെ കാര്യസ്ഥനും സഹായിയുമായ അനാഥപെൺകുട്ടി ബാലമണി (നവ്യ നായർ) എന്ന നിഷ്കളങ്കമായ കഥാപാത്രത്തിലൂടെയാണ് സിനിമ വികസിക്കുന്നത്. തന്റെ സങ്കടങ്ങളും സന്തോഷങ്ങളും ഒരു സുഹൃത്തിനോടെന്നപോലെ ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പനോട് പങ്കുവെക്കുന്ന ബാലമണിയുടെ ഭക്തിയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവ്. ഉണ്ണിയമ്മയുടെ (കവിയൂർ പൊന്നമ്മ) കൊച്ചുമകൻ മനു (പൃഥ്വിരാജ് സുകുമാരൻ) വിദേശത്തുനിന്ന് എത്തുന്നതോടെ ബാലമണിയുടെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾക്ക് പുതിയ നിറങ്ങൾ കൈവരുന്നു.

ബാലമണിയും മനുവും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രണയം തികച്ചും യാദൃശ്ചികവും എന്നാൽ തീവ്രവുമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ മനുവിന്റെ അമ്മ തങ്കം (രേവതി) നിശ്ചയിച്ചുറപ്പിച്ച മറ്റൊരു വിവാഹം അവരുടെ ബന്ധത്തിന് തടസ്സമാകുന്നു. തന്റെ പ്രണയത്തേക്കാൾ കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ സമാധാനത്തിന് വിലകൽപ്പിച്ച ബാലമണി പിൻവാങ്ങാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുമ്പോഴും, വിധി അവർക്കായി മറ്റൊരു വഴി ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു. കല്യാണദിവസം വധു ഒളിച്ചോടുന്നതും തുടർന്നുണ്ടാകുന്ന നാടകീയമായ സംഭവങ്ങളും ദൈവനിശ്ചയമെന്നോണം അവരെ ഒരുമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. വള്ളുവനാടൻ ശൈലിയും തനിമയാർന്ന തറവാട് അന്തരീക്ഷവും ചിത്രത്തിന് ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ഭംഗി നൽകുന്നു.

പൃഥ്വിരാജിന്റെ അരങ്ങേറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ വേഷങ്ങളും

മലയാള സിനിമയുടെ ഇന്നത്തെ കരുത്തനായ പൃഥ്വിരാജ് സുകുമാരന്റെ അരങ്ങേറ്റ ചിത്രം എന്ന നിലയിൽ “നന്ദനം” ചരിത്രപരമായ പ്രാധാന്യമർഹിക്കുന്നു. നവ്യ നായരുടെ കരിയറിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച വേഷങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ബാലമണി. വി.ഡി. രാജപ്പൻ, ജഗതി ശ്രീകുമാർ, ഇന്നസെന്റ് തുടങ്ങിയവർ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച വേഷങ്ങൾ ചിത്രത്തിന് നർമ്മത്തിന്റെ മധുരം നൽകി. പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും അരവിന്ദൻ എന്ന നിഗൂഢമായ കഥാപാത്രമായി എത്തിയ അരവിന്ദാക്ഷൻ (ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പൻ) ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആത്മീയമായ അടിത്തറ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
