My Dear Mutthachan (1992) is a Malayalam comedy-drama that explores the story of Meera and her three younger siblings whose lives are turned upside down after their parents die in an accident. As unscrupulous relatives close in to seize control of their late parents’ prosperous business, the orphaned children find themselves vulnerable and in desperate need of protection.
Taking matters into their own hands, the siblings hire an ex-army officer, played by veteran actor Thilakan, to pose as their grandfather and restore order to their household. With his discipline and unconventional methods, he confronts the greedy relatives and helps the children navigate the challenges of loss and manipulation, gradually forming a genuine familial bond with them.
The film is directed by Sathyan Anthikad and written by Sreenivasan, with Johnson composing the memorable soundtrack. The principal cast includes Thilakan and Jayaram in leading roles, and the film is produced by Joy Thomas.
