Ividam Swargamaanu ഇവിടം സ്വര്‍ഗമാണ്

“Ividam Swargamaanu” (transl. It’s Heaven Here) is a 2009 Malayalam-language family drama film directed by Rosshan Andrrews and written by James Albert. The movie centers on Mathews (Mohanlal), a hardworking and principled farmer who, alongside his father Jeremias (Thilakan), has nurtured a thriving organic farm and dairy. As the conflict escalates, Mathews finds himself embroiled in a challenging battle against Chandy’s political influence and fabricated civil cases. Despite mounting pressure and the defection of some villagers swayed by Chandy’s false promises, Mathews and Jeremias remain steadfast in their commitment to their land. The narrative sees the introduction of Advocate Sunitha (Lakshmi Rai) and later Advocate Prabalan (Sreenivasan), an astute lawyer appointed as an ‘amicus curiae,’ who aids Mathews in exposing the corruption within various government agencies and ultimately reclaiming his rightful ownership. The film was well-received, particularly for Mohanlal’s authentic portrayal of a common man fighting for his beliefs, reminding audiences of his ‘vintage’ performances. The reunion of Mohanlal and Thilakan on screen after a considerable gap was also a highlight, contributing to the film’s critical acclaim and commercial success.
