Synopsis
## Chandrolsavam: Returning to Roots under the Luminous Moon
Chandrolsavam, released in 2005, is a Malayalam-language action drama that delves into the complexities of homecoming, reconciliation, and the enduring power of relationships. The film centers on Sreehari, who returns to his hometown of Chirakkal in Kerala after spending six years in Paris. His return is not merely about revisiting memories but about confronting unresolved issues: silencing rumors, clarifying misunderstandings, and healing emotional wounds, especially those involving his former lover Indulekha and his childhood friend Ramanunni.
The movie stars Mohanlal in the lead role as Sreehari, with Meena playing Indulekha. Other pivotal roles are played by Ranjith as Ramanunni, Cochin Haneefa as Sreedharan, and supporting performances from actors like Jagadish, Sujatha, and Murali. Directed and written by Ranjith, Chandrolsavam showcases lush cinematography by Alagappan N., nuanced editing by L. Bhoominathan, and an evocative soundtrack composed by Vidyasagar, which enhances the emotional landscape of the story.
Produced by Santhosh Damodharan under the banner of Damor Cinema, Chandrolsavam was released during the Vishu festival and became a box office success. It was praised for its strong performances, especially by Mohanlal and Meena, and later found enduring popularity through television broadcasts and online platforms. Critics highlighted the film’s melodious music, authentic rural settings, and the heartfelt portrayal of relationships, solidifying its status as a significant entry in the Malayalam drama genre.
