The story unfolds as these two companions find themselves locked in a bizarre legal struggle with a vindictive Tahsildar, S. Priyadarshini. Amid comedic misadventures, Sagar’s complicated past unravels, especially when it emerges that a misunderstanding from their school days has left Priya (S. Priyadarshini) mentally scarred, prompting Sagar to help her heal and redeem his own mistakes.
Directed by Kamal and written by Sreenivasan based on a story by Siddique, the film brings together an exemplary cast, with Mohanlal portraying the eccentric Sagar, Sreenivasan as the loyal Ramakrishnan, and Kousalya (credited as Nandini) as Priyadarshini. Supporting performances by Innocent Vareed Thekkethala, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Srividya, and others add depth to the film’s humor and emotional layers. The movie’s music, composed by Raveendran with lyrics by Kaithapram, is interwoven with its narrative, while C. Rajamani delivers the film’s compelling background score.
Upon release, Ayaal Kadhayezhthukayaanu was noted for its blend of slapstick and sentiment, brought to life through Kamal’s direction and Sreenivasan’s trademark writing style.
