Sudeep Kumar സുദീപ് കുമാർ

Sudeep Kumar is a prominent Indian playback singer, primarily known for his versatile contributions to Malayalam cinema, as well as Indian classical and devotional music. Born on May 25, 1975, in Alappuzha, Kerala, he embarked on his musical journey in 1992, initially gaining recognition for singing in dramas and albums before making his film debut. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Sudeep Kumar has recorded over 5,000 songs in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Sanskrit, establishing himself as a significant voice in South Indian music.

A graduate in Malayalam from SD College, Alappuzha, and with an LLB from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, Sudeep Kumar’s professional career truly blossomed after training under renowned composer G. Devarajan. His collaboration with composer M. Jayachandran has been particularly fruitful, leading to numerous hit songs in Malayalam films such as “Kondoram” from Odiyan and “Chempakapoo” from Rathinirvedam, the latter earning him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2012. Beyond his film work, Sudeep Kumar is also active in television, having hosted and appeared in various music-related programs, and currently serves as the president of the Malayalam playback singers’ association SAMAM.

സുദീപ് കുമാർ ഒരു പ്രമുഖ ഇന്ത്യൻ പിന്നണി ഗായകനാണ്. മലയാള സിനിമയിലും ഇന്ത്യൻ ക്ലാസിക്കൽ, ഭക്തിഗാന രംഗത്തും തൻ്റെ വൈവിധ്യമാർന്ന സംഭാവനകളിലൂടെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രധാനമായും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. 1975 മെയ് 25-ന് ആലപ്പുഴയിൽ ജനിച്ച സുദീപ് കുമാർ, 1992-ൽ തൻ്റെ സംഗീത ജീവിതം ആരംഭിച്ചു. നാടകങ്ങളിലും ആൽബങ്ങളിലും പാടി പേരെടുത്ത ശേഷമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ചലച്ചിത്ര രംഗത്തേക്ക് പ്രവേശിച്ചത്. രണ്ടു ദശാബ്ദത്തിലേറെ നീണ്ട തൻ്റെ കരിയറിൽ, മലയാളം, തമിഴ്, കന്നഡ, തെലുങ്ക്, സംസ്കൃതം ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി ഭാഷകളിലായി 5,000-ൽ അധികം ഗാനങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹം ആലപിച്ചു. ഇത് ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ സംഗീതത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒരു പ്രധാന വ്യക്തിത്വമാക്കി മാറ്റി.

ആലപ്പുഴ എസ്.ഡി. കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് മലയാളത്തിൽ ബിരുദവും തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഗവൺമെൻ്റ് ലോ കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് നിയമബിരുദവും നേടിയ സുദീപ് കുമാറിൻ്റെ പ്രൊഫഷണൽ കരിയർ പ്രസിദ്ധ സംഗീതജ്ഞൻ ജി. ദേവരാജൻ്റെ ശിക്ഷണത്തിലാണ് ആരംഭിച്ചത്. സംഗീത സംവിധായകൻ എം. ജയചന്ദ്രനുമായുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ സഹകരണം ഏറെ വിജയകരമായിരുന്നു. “ഒടിയൻ” എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ “കൊണ്ടോരം”, “രതിനിർവേദം” എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ “ചെമ്പകപ്പൂ” എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി ഹിറ്റ് ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. “ചെമ്പകപ്പൂ” എന്ന ഗാനത്തിന് 2012-ൽ മികച്ച പിന്നണി ഗായകനുള്ള കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അവാർഡും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ലഭിച്ചു. ചലച്ചിത്ര രംഗത്തിന് പുറമെ, സുദീപ് കുമാർ ടെലിവിഷനിലും സജീവമാണ്. നിരവധി സംഗീത പരിപാടികളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം അവതാരകനായും അതിഥിയായും പങ്കെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിലവിൽ മലയാളം പിന്നണി ഗായകരുടെ സംഘടനയായ സാമത്തിൻ്റെ (SAMAM) പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് കൂടിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം.
