Biography
Mohan Sithara is a prominent Indian music composer, primarily celebrated for his significant contributions to Malayalam cinema. Born on May 30, 1959, in Peruvallur, Thrissur district, Kerala, he embarked on his illustrious musical journey in 1986 as a music director for the Malayalam film “Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare.” His debut featured the hugely popular lullaby “Raree Rareeram Raro,” which quickly established his melodic style and secured his position in the industry. Over his extensive career, Sithara has composed for more than 100 films, earning critical acclaim for his distinctive approach to music direction.
Known for his versatile compositions that seamlessly blend Western, classical, and traditional folk elements, Mohan Sithara has collaborated with numerous renowned lyricists and singers. His talent has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 2009 for “Soofi Paranja Kadha,” and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in 2000 for “Joker.” Beyond film, he also composed music for television serials and currently nurtures new talent by running a music college in his native Thrissur.
