എ കെ ലോഹിതദാസ് എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രശസ്തനായ അമ്പഴത്തിൽ കരുണാകരൻ ലോഹിതദാസ് മലയാളം സിനിമയുടെ അഭിമാനമായിരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രശസ്ത സംവിധായകനും തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തും നിർമ്മാതാവുമാണ്. 1955 മെയ് 10-ന് തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ചാലക്കുടിയിലാണ് ജനനം. ചെറുകഥാകൃത്തായി സാഹിത്യജീവിതം ആരംഭിച്ച ലോഹിതദാസ് പിന്നീട് ശ്രീബി മലയിൽ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത തനിയാവർത്തനം (1987) എന്ന സിനിമയുടെ തിരക്കഥയിലൂടെയാണ് സിനിമയിൽ ആദ്യപാദം വയ്ക്കുന്നത്. ഇതിന് തുടര്ന്നു കിരീടം (1989), ഹിസ് ഹൈനെസ് അബ്ദുള്ള (1990), ഭരതം (1991), കമലദളം (1992), ചെന്ന്കോൽ (1993) തുടങ്ങിയ ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം തിരക്കഥ എഴുതുകയും മലയാള സിനിമയുടെ ഭാവി നിർണയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
