## Afsal: The Resonant Voice of Malayalam Cinema
Afsal Ismail, popularly known as Afsal, is a distinguished Indian playback singer who has significantly shaped the soundscape of Malayalam cinema over more than two decades. Born on April 14, 1974, in Kochi, Kerala, his affinity for music manifested early on, with his initial stage performances inspired by the legendary S.P. Balasubrahmanyam. By 1992, Afsal had already begun to garner attention as a gifted performer.
His professional playback career took off in 2000 with the song “Kannilambum Villum” from the film Valyettan. This debut marked the beginning of an illustrious journey, with Afsal lending his voice to over 250 Malayalam film songs. Among his most celebrated tracks are “Kai thudi thalam”, “En Karalil Raakshasi”, “Ishtamalleda Enikkishtamalleda”, “Shaaba Shaaba”, “Meharuba”, “Chirimanimulle”, “Penne en penne”, “Manassilayiram”, “Veluveluthorupennu”, and “Jillam Jillala”. Afsal also achieved success outside Malayalam cinema, notably in Tamil with the hit “Mazhai mazhai puthumazhai” from Chithiram Pesuthadi.
