“Georgukutti C/O Georgukutti” is a 1991 Malayalam romantic comedy-drama film that tells the story of George Kutty (Jayaram), a brilliant engineering student whose family has fallen on hard times after a protracted legal battle. To alleviate his family’s financial struggles, George is persuaded by a marriage broker, Chandy (Jagathy Sreekumar), to marry Alice (Sunitha), the daughter of the wealthy yet notoriously miserly and cruel landlord Ittichen (Thilakan). Chandy, however, misrepresents George’s family’s financial standing to Ittichen, setting the stage for future conflict.

Upon discovering the deception, Ittichen subjects George to considerable hardship, forcing him into demeaning chores within his in-laws’ house, despite George’s excellent professional prospects. Initially, George quietly endures this mistreatment, acknowledging his complicity in the initial fraud. However, as the oppression becomes unbearable, he decides to confront his father-in-law. With the assistance of his police inspector friend (Siddique) and others, George devises a plan to teach Ittichen a lesson. The narrative culminates with George not only proving his worth but also saving Ittichen’s life from a local bully, leading to Ittichen finally accepting George as his own son. The film marked Haridas’ directorial debut, for which he received the Kerala State Film Award for Best New Face Director.
