Set in the culturally rich urban center of Pondicherry, “Theatre” explores the life of Das, a cowherd who harbors a secret passion for acting. Leading a double life, he navigates the contrasting worlds of rural tradition and theatrical ambition, revealing the complex layers of identity and artistry.

As Das becomes more involved with a diverse and cosmopolitan theatre troupe under the stern guidance of an inexperienced director, tensions simmer among the group. The arrival of Guna, a former funeral drummer turned stage musician, brings past conflicts to the surface, challenging their unity and creative pursuit.

Through an impressionistic and lighthearted lens, the film delves into the internal dynamics of artistic communities, highlighting the struggles and dreams of individuals caught between societal expectations and personal expression. “Theatre” is a poignant reflection on the transformative power of art and the human desire for self-realization.
