Anuradha Sriram is celebrated as one of the most versatile playback and Carnatic vocalists in Indian cinema, with a prolific career spanning over three decades. Born on July 9, 1970, in Chennai to renowned playback singer Renuka Devi and Meenakshi Sundaram Mohan, she was introduced to music at an early age, performing on radio and television from the age of 12. She completed her schooling in Coimbatore and Chennai, eventually earning both B.A. and M.A. degrees in music from Queen Mary’s College, Madras University, where she was a gold medalist. She later pursued a Master’s in Ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University in the United States, illustrating her deep commitment to both Indian classical and global music traditions.
Her career is marked by remarkable versatility, having recorded over 4,000 songs in more than 10 languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, and Sinhala.
